Therapeutic Nicotine Vapes
Thinking about quitting smoking? Start with a conversation
Quitting smoking can be difficult, especially when cigarettes have become part of your daily routine. You do not need to work out every step on your own. At Joseph Amerena Reservoir Pharmacy, our pharmacists can help you understand your options and make a practical plan.
What happens when you ask a pharmacist for help?
We start by listening. We may ask when you smoke, what triggers a craving, whether you have tried to quit before and what made those attempts difficult. We can then discuss approaches that may suit you, including behavioural support and nicotine replacement therapy such as patches, gum, lozenges or vapes.
The right approach depends on your circumstances. A pharmacist can help you consider how to manage cravings, use a chosen treatment correctly and recognise when it would be helpful to speak with your GP.
A quit plan can be simple
You might begin by choosing a quit date, identifying the times you are most likely to smoke and deciding what you will do when a craving arrives. Some people prefer to prepare gradually; others want a clear date to stop. If an attempt does not go to plan, it can still show you which situations need a different strategy next time.
Support is available beyond the pharmacy, too. Quitline offers confidential help on 13 QUIT (13 7848).
